This is a small preset designed to make the game feel more punchy, more colorful, and a bit less dazzling.
Nights may appear darker, which can encourage you to use your flashlight more often and be a bit more careful during your nighttime explorations. It also slightly improves sharpness and adds a very pronounced depth of field. Personally, I really like it. It adds a very nice cinematic effect (especially effective when climbing, in dense forests, or in cities).
However, the depth of field can make the UI appear blurry. In that case, you can disable it at any time by pressing Numpad 5 (press it again to re-enable it).
There is also a small additional crosshair visible when depth of field is enabled, which helps you focus your view more easily (and it disappears when depth of field is disabled).
